STATE REP CECIL BELL TO HOST INAUGURAL “CHRISTMAS IN JULY” BENEFITING INTERCEPT MINISTRIES

Nonprofit organization seeks donations of funds and goods to bring “seasonal” cheer to area families in need

Intercept Ministries, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing assistance to those in need throughout the Montgomery, Grimes, and Waller County area, is gearing up for its latest project. Christmas in July, an event designed to raise funds for families in need during the holiday season, will be held Friday, July 21, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., at Magnolia Bible Church, located at 31611 Nichols Sawdust Road in Magnolia.

The event, which is hosted by State Representative Cecil Bell, includes dinner, catered by LaMagnolia Italian Restaurant, live entertainment, and a grand prize drawing.

“One of our biggest needs for families is warm blankets,” said Lynette Gibbons, founder and Executive Director of Intercept Ministries. “If you bring a new thick blanket, or comforter, to the event, you’ll be automatically entered in our grand prize drawing.”

The purpose of the event is to gain enough money and items to assist Intercept’s programs that help local needy individuals, families, and seniors throughout the year. Last year, Intercept helped people of all ages throughout the tri-county area, including providing gifts for 2,300 children – from infants to teens – and more than 200 senior citizens and others in need, with the help of the community and other organizations. Gibbons wants to reach even more families this year and hopes that local churches and corporations will “lead the charge” in collecting items, funds, and manpower.

“At the event, there will be opportunities for our community partners and event attendees to sign up to create senior baskets, stuff Christmas stockings, create lifeline bags for the homeless, and to provide gifts for teenagers,” said Gibbons.

Tickets are $20 for individuals and $35 per couple. Children, ages 12 and under, enjoy free admission. Please consider being an event sponsor for this worthy cause. For more information, sponsorship opportunities, or to purchase advance tickets, email kristin@southernhc.com.
