WOODLANDS BOYS CHOIR ANNOUNCES 2017-2018 SEASON AUDITIONS AND TOURS

The Woodlands Boys Choir has announced its open auditions for the 2017-2018 season. The auditions will take place on Saturday, May 13 from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon at HopePointe Anglican Church, 3333 South Panther Creek Drive in The Woodlands. Auditions will be conducted on a first come, first served basis.

“Auditions are short, simple and unprepared. Qualities we look for in the boys are a love of singing, a free, controlled tone that will blend well, a good sense of pitch, and self-discipline,” said Sherryl Pond, founder and executive director of The Woodlands Boys Choir.

Boys aged 7-13 can schedule their auditions through the choir’s website at www.woodlandsboyschoir.org. Additionally, further auditions will continue through the summer by appointment for those unable to make the May audition date.

“We are excited about our upcoming third season,” said Pond. “Highlighting our 2017 and 2018 will be a tour to Washington D.C., including participation in the Baltimore Boychoir Festival.”

WBC is currently completing its second season with local performances, along with their Inaugural Tour to Louisiana the first week in June. “The boys will perform in Baton Rouge, Lafayette, and Covington, and will enjoy fun activities together,” said Pond.

The Woodlands Boys Choir is a new tradition of musical excellence in The Woodlands and brings together talented boys reflecting the cultural diversity of the greater Montgomery/North Harris County areas. “For boys who enjoy music, a boys’ choir can provide an extraordinary foundation for lifelong musical enjoyment, faith, confidence and character, preparing them for excellence in their chosen fields, whether musical or not,” said Pond. “The choral education and environment in the tradition of boys’ choirs instills the skills of self-discipline, expectation of excellence, self-motivation, and accomplishment.” The boys build lasting friendships through the bond of their brothers in the choir and the music and memories they create.

Membership in the Woodlands Boys Choir is open to boys ages 7 to 13 of all cultures and faiths. A small tuition fee is charged for music and expenses. It is the intent of the organization to assure that no boy is denied the opportunity to participate due to financial consideration. Scholarships are available.
