On a recent visit to the University of Houston College of Optometry, 42 Houston Can Academies students were able to receive eye exams and glasses. This fieldtrip with a purpose will help Houston Can students from Houston Can Academy Hobby and Houston Can Academy North, in school and post-graduation in the long term. Houston Can Academies paid a discounted rate of $50 per student to receive an eye health exam and, if necessary, a pair of glasses in time for their end of semester tests.

The University of Houston set aside time this fall to examine and fit students of Houston Can Academies for glasses along with providing bus transportation to and from the College of Optometry. The tour served as a unique opportunity for the students to receive eye exams and glasses from a licensed optometrist. The tour is posed to provide students who would otherwise not have access with much needed quality vision services.

Texans Can Academies will continue their vision program among their students after the holidays in Austin, San Antonio and Houston North.
