If you've ever imagined yourself performing on stage - here's your chance!  This Saturday, September 30, The Grand 1894 Opera House is hosting an "Open Mic" event - on stage at The Grand - between 12 noon and 4pm.  The Grand is just one of many local attractions and hotels taking part in the special Galveston Cares weekend on the island eager to give those severely impacted by Hurricane Harvey a fun weekend to enjoy.

This event is open to the public and pre-registration is requested. Email your name, contact information, type of performance (e.g. singing, dancing, playing an instrument, etc), and any specific time request to: OpenMic@thegrand.com. Each performer will have up to7 minutes to perform on stage. The Grand's nine-foot Steinway grand piano will be available as well as one microphone. Music groups are welcome, but must perform acoustically- i.e. no speakers, plug-ins or monitors will be permitted.  Don't feel like performing?  We look forward to having you join us as part of the audience to see and hear the stars of the future!

The Grand is also offering a special 20% discount to three upcoming performances: Jimmy Webb - The Glen Campbell Years (October 7), Joshua Bell, Violinist (October 22) and STOMP (November 18-19.) The promo code GRAND is required when ordering tickets to receive the special 20% discount.

A MESSAGE FROM THE GRAND 1894 OPERA HOUSE: After the 1900 Storm, The Grand rebuilt in a year and became a place of healing through the arts. After Ike, we once again played a similar role for our community. Today, we are in the unique position of being spared the ravages of hurricane Harvey. Please know that we are here for you as a community gathering place – a place to weep, to remember, to heal, and to celebrate life through the arts.
