In partnership with Texas A&M for their Construction Academy and the Association of General Contractors Houston Chapter (AGC), McCarthy Building Companies Houston division recently hosted 32 high school students from various school districts around metro Houston to learn about different careers and activities within the construction industry. During the week-long construction camp, students discovered STEM-focused career paths in construction, while receiving hands-on experience with activities such as plan reading, estimating, measuring and client interaction at McCarthy’s Craft Training Trailer. The event, one of many, demonstrates McCarthy’s dedication to combating the construction industry’s labor shortage by partnering with local organizations and schools to introduce students to interesting and viable careers in construction.
