Houston Lion Kings The Houston Lion Kings will perform traditional dragon and lion dances to celebrate the Chinese New Year at Metropark Square on Saturday, January 11 at noon.

Sam Moon Group plans to start the new year with a roar by kicking off “Metropark Events on the Lawn,” Metropark Square’s monthly event series. Beginning in January, anyone can join the mixed-use development on the second Saturday of each month for a free, public event offering fun for the whole family just north of Houston.

Bringing excitement and energy to the development in January, the Houston Lion Kings will perform traditional Chinese dragon and lion dances to celebrate the Chinese New Year. Families will watch in wonder as the colorful animals dance to the beating of drums, cymbals and gongs. After the performance, families can enjoy a bite to eat at one of the nearby restaurants or catch a movie at the new AMC Metropark Square 10. The Houston Lion Kings will perform from noon to 1 p.m. in the Metropark Square event lawn on Saturday, January 11, 2020.

Metropark Square will feature a wide variety of monthly events throughout the year including pet adoptions, yoga and Pilates, scavenger hunts, holiday-themed activities, charity drives and more.

“Sam Moon Group is eager to begin monthly events at Metropark Square and we are excited to welcome the Houston Lion Kings as our first monthly event. We are looking forward to their entertaining group of performers demonstrating lion and dragon dances to celebrate the Chinese New Year,” said Daniel Moon, Vice President and General Counsel of Sam Moon Group. “The Metropark Square event lawn is a perfect spot for residents and guests of Shenandoah and nearby communities to gather and enjoy monthly events with the surrounding restaurants, entertainment venues and retail outlets.”

The start of the new year will also mark the start of several new businesses opening in the mixed-use development. A Dave & Buster’s is slated to open in Metropark Square on January 20, 2020. With more than 40,000 square feet of state-of-the-art entertainment, the dynamic environment will include a chef-crafted food menu, innovative drinks, hundreds of the latest arcade games and a D&B Sports Bar surrounded with dozens of HDTVs for optimal game watching.

Restaurant, retail and business tenants that plan to open in early 2020 include: Top Sushi, Bubble Egg, Black Bear Diner, Sharetea, Aesthetic Smiles Dentistry, Jordan’s Sweet Shoppe and BurgerIM. A 148-room Hyatt House hotel is slated to open in December 2020, with residentially inspired studios, one- and two-bedroom suites with fully equipped kitchens and separate living guest rooms, a fitness room and a pool. The mixed-use development will also include residential housing and more restaurants, retail and entertainment options for residents and guests of Shenandoah, The Woodlands and surrounding areas.
