THE GRAND’S PRESENTS LEGENDARY FLAUTISTS, SIR JAMES AND LADY JEANNE GALWAY AND JAMES GALWAY'S 80TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION TOUR, OCTOBER 26

GALVESTON ISLAND, TEXAS (30 June 2019.)  The month of October comes to a close in grand style when “The Man with the Golden Flute” - the world-renowned, legendary flautist, Sir James Galway - brings his 80th Birthday Celebration Tour to The Grand on Saturday, October 26 at 8pm. Accompanied by Michael McHale, one of Ireland’s leading pianists, and joined on stage for selected pieces by his wife, flautist Lady Jeanne Galway, Sir James and company will deliver a performance in which melodious sounds fill the acoustically perfect Grand!  Tickets may be purchased at The Grand’s Box Office, 2020 Postoffice Street, by calling 409.765.1894, 800.821.1894, or online at www.thegrand.com.

Recipient of the Gramophone Lifetime Achievement Award and recognized world-wide “as a supreme interpreter of the classical flute repertoire,” Sir James Galway is, indeed, a performer whose appeal transcends all musical boundaries. Inducted into the Hollywood Bowl of Fame alongside fellow inductees Liza Minnelli and B.B. King, he may be the only classical instrumentalist to hold such distinction. Since embarking on a solo career almost 45 years ago and having sold over 30 million copies of 97 recordings world-wide, toured extensively throughout the world, and seen on multiple nationally-televised documentaries in the U.K., Sir James Galway has long been recognized as a “household name.”  Look forward to an evening at The Grand where Galway’s diverse repertoire reflects his impressive musical range and establishes him “as an artist of the very highest stature.”  This performance is supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts and Texas Commission on the Arts.

Season subscription tickets are now on sale. Single ticket sales begin August 5. Call The Grand’s box office at 409.765.1894, 800.821.1894, or visit The Grand’s web site at www.thegrand.com.   Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, The Grand 1894 Opera House, located at 2020 Postoffice Street in Galveston’s historic downtown Cultural Arts District, is recognized as The Official Opera House of the State of Texas.” All major credit cards accepted.
